Graham Carr has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of History for a term of four years, effective September 26, 2026
GATINEAU, QC, Oct. 2, 2026 /CNW/ -- Today, the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages, announced the appointment of Dr. Graham Carr as the next Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum, two institutions that play a vital role in the preservation and promotion of our heritage and stories.
Graham Carr is President and Vice-Chancellor of Concordia University. Born in Quebec, he earned his PhD from the University of Maine and is a Professor in Concordia's Department of History, where his research focuses on Cold War cultural history.
He also chairs the Universities Canada Research Committee and serves on the Executive Committee of the Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire and the Steering Committee of the Montreal Climate Partnership (Partenariat climat Montréal).
His past governance roles include past chair of the Board of U SPORTS; president of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences; chair of the Canada–U.S. Fulbright selection committee; and board member of Centraide of Greater Montreal, the Leadership Council for Digital Infrastructure and the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal. For many years, he was a member of the National Capital Commission's Advisory Committee for Communications, Marketing and Programming.
